DP Simulator (Advanced) Course(Accredited by Nautical Institute UK)

This course provides the student a thorough knowledge of the practical aspects of Dynamic Position (DP) operations. A student should: Be capable of planning and conducting any DP operation, including risk assessment, contingency planning and assessment of vessel capability. Be able to react correctly in any circumstances which could lead to catastrophic failure or which constitute catastrophic failure itself.

Objectives:
  • Students will demonstrate ability to set up and operate the DP system, including special functions as Auto track and follow target, sensors and associated Position reference systems in live field conditions.
  • The student must demonstrate ability to carry out a DP operation.
  • The student must describe the limitations of the DP systems during operations in shallow and deep waters.
  • The student must evaluate various information received and recognize warnings and alarms associated with catastrophic failures.
  • The student must demonstrate correct behaviour in connection with failures and take appropriate action to stabilize the vessels position after a failure.
Course content:
  • The training is based on the programme as outlined by the recommendations contained in The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines and accredited as per Nautical Institute (NI) (UK) latest guidelines.
  • Training is a mix of theoretical sessions and practical exercises on Kongsberg Full Mission Type ‘A’ simulator.
Eligibility:
  • Delegates who have completed 30 days of watch keeping and familiarization after the DP Basic course.
Course duration:
  • 5 Days (Monday – Friday)
Batch intake :
  • Max 4 / Min 2 delegates per batch
